Sharing the voices of Ohio’s Independent Living movement
In 2026, the Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (OSILC) partnered with Shedd Creative LLC to produce a statewide Independent Living awareness campaign.
The project brought together perspectives from across Ohio’s Centers for Independent Living and OSILC to share personal experiences, highlight the difference Independent Living services can make, and raise awareness of barriers that still exist.
The stories explore themes including consumer choice, community living, self-advocacy, peer support, accessible housing, personal assistance, and disability rights.
A statewide resource for education and advocacy.
The videos were developed to give OSILC and Ohio’s Centers for Independent Living a shared collection of stories that can be used for public education, outreach, advocacy, and communicating the impact of Independent Living services.

Resources for the Future
As part of the project, Matt also assisted in the network in creating a guide to produce future videos as well as a review of what would make the process better.
