Emergency Preparedness for Individuals with Paralysis Home Modifications Project

About the Project
The Ohio Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) will create opportunities for Non-profit community organizations to distribute funding for Home Modifications to Ohioans with paralysis. Applicants are encouraged to develop a process to distribute Home Modification funds to persons with paralysis within their community. These home modifications are identified as a specific need this person has to be able to safely maneuver within their home and exit their home in case of an Emergency and reduce barriers to access Emergency Services.
Eligibility: Applicants must be a 501C3 that serves individuals with paralysis.
Length of Awards: Each award will be for 6 months
Anticipated Number of Awards: An estimate of 5 to 6 awards will be funded.
Application Due: 4/19/2021
Award Start Date: 5/1/2021

Ohio SILC Policy Analysis
Project Overview
The Ohio SILC is seeking proposals from Centers for Independent Living that can assist in the formation of a training program on advocacy in health care as directed by the Community Advancement and Advocacy Committee.
Background
The Ohio SILC has a committee that is dedicated to advocacy and promoting the advancement of Independent Living in Ohio. Through the work of the SILC and Centers for Independent Living, we hope to have the ability to positively impact the systemic barriers that the disability community face in health care. A training will be developed that can be utilized by all Centers for Independent Living in Ohio to assist consumers in understanding their rights in health care settings and home and community-based services.
Goals and Objectives
- To create a training series that can be utilized by CILs to train consumers.
- To provide training to CILs on implementing the trainings.
Timeline
- The project will begin upon the selection of a proposal by the Ohio SILC and a contract will be signed between the two parties to continue as needed.
- Project will end 9/30/2021.
- Proposals are to be submitted electronically by 11/30/2020 at 5:00 PM.
